"I don't know, I wasn't there,'' she said. ' 'All I know is you got hurt, and Frank got shot." "Is he dead?"

"I hope so," she said, with feeling. ''Get me Bags,'' Clint said. "You're supposed to keep quiet." "Get me Bags and then I'll keep quiet." "Promise?" "I promise."

She frowned at him, then said, "Oh, all right. I'll be right back."

As she walked out the door, Clint made the mistake of closing his eyes. When he woke up it was eigjit hours later, but Bags was there.

"You wanted to see me?" he asked when he saw that Clint was awake.

"Yeah," Clint said, frowning. "I must have dozed off."

"Sure, for eight hours." "Eight hours!"

"Relax, you needed the rest."

' 'Ask him what you wanted to ask him so he'11 leave,'' Edie told Clint. "He's supposed to keep quiet," she said to Bags.

"So are women," Bags said, "but that never stopped any of you."

They glared at each other for a few minutes and then Clint cleared his throat. "Remember me?"

' 'I guess you want to know what happened after you went under," Bags said.
